Bonnie Winters is passionate about stories. They have the power to capture our imaginations, to teach life lessons and to alleviate that feeling of aloneness when we are suffering.
She is a 1973 graduate of Northpoint Bible College in Haverhill, MA (formerly
Zion Bible Institute in East Providence, RI) and later returned to school as an
adult learner to complete her BS degree in adult learning and mentoring at the
Binghamton, NY Unit of Empire State College in 1996.
Bonnie began her professional writing career when she was hired as a reporter
for a small town weekly newspaper in Upstate NY, eventually working her way up
to the news editor position. Since moving from NY, she has published numerous articles in denominational take-home papers, e-zines and print magazines.
Her love for the stories of Bible women and those living in Bible eras was fueled following a comment by a Christian psychologist who said that most women have male Bible heroes and lack an intimate knowledge of the women's stories.
With her background in mentoring, Bonnie began to search the scriptures for a woman who had experienced emotional upheavals from abuse, similar to her own experiences and who had come through them victoriously. She found that woman in Ruth, the Moabitess, and was inspired to prayerfully use her imagination to craft her first novel based on Ruth's story. Since then she has authored two more novels and a dozen short stories based on the experiences of Bible women.
Bonnie is a pastor's wife with 40 years of ministry experience and is active in ministering to women and children in her church. She has three married children and 11 grandchildren. Her hobbies include sewing, cooking and card making in her spare time.
